Giles Brand – Managing Partner London

Giles is the founder and Managing Partner of EPE. Since 2001, Giles has led over 30 buyout, turnaround, distressed and growth capital transactions. Many of these transactions have made multiple bolt-on acquisitions in the UK and internationally. Exit routes have included initial public offerings, trade sales and secondary private equity sales. Giles is an experienced non-executive chairman and director, having served on the boards of multiple private companies including: Pinnacle Regeneration Group, a social housing operator; Palatinate Schools, a private schools operator; and Ryness Electrical, retailer of wiring accessories and related goods. He is currently Non-executive Chairman of Whittard of Chelsea and Luceco plc, and a Non-Executive Director of The Reader Organisation, a not-for-profit educational charity. He has extensive public markets experience gained as a corporate finance advisor at Baring Brothers International and at EPE. This includes a particular focus on investment trusts, having been investment advisor or investment manager to a number of listed investment vehicles whilst at EPE, including the Equity Partnership Investment Company plc (2001-2011), EPIC Brand Investments plc (2003-2005) and ESO plc (2003-present).

In the period between 2001 and 2006, when he led the buyout of EPE, Giles was a founding director of EPIC Investment Partners, a fund management business which at sale in 2007 had US$5 billion under management. Prior to EPIC Investment Partners, Giles spent five years working in mergers and acquisitions at Baring Brothers International in Paris and London and subsequently at ING Barings in London advising governments and corporates.

Delphine Brand – Managing Partner London

Delphine is a Partner of EPE. She was previously Global Head of Investor Relations at Rhône Capital, a trans-Atlantic private equity firm with US$5bn under management, and a Partner at BC Partners, with US$10bn under management for private equity investment. Prior to that Delphine worked in Mergers and Acquisitions at Baring Brothers. Delphine holds a masters degree in Finance and Business Administration from the HEC School of Management in Paris and law degree from Université de Paris-Sceaux. Delphine is the Chair of the Hackney Empire Theatre.

Hiren Patel – Managing Partner London

Hiren is a Partner and EPE’s Finance Director and Compliance Officer. He has worked in the investment management industry for the past fifteen years. Before joining EPE, Hiren was Finance Director of EPIC Investment Partners. Before EPIC Investment Partners, Hiren was employed at Groupama Asset Management where he was the Group Financial Controller.

Stephen Georgiadis – Chairman, Advisory & Placement London

Stephan is Chairman of EPE’s Advisory & Placement business. He was a founder of Altium Capital, the advisory arm of Apax Partners, which merged with GCA Savvian to form GCA Altium, the mid-market investment banking advisory group. Before this, he was at Hill Samuel & Co. Limited. Stephen read Jurisprudence at Brasenose College, Oxford.

Alex Leslie – Managing Director London

Alex worked in Healthcare Investment Banking at Piper Jaffray before joining EPE. Whilst at Piper Jaffray he worked on a number of M&A transactions and equity fundraisings within the Biotechnology, Specialty Pharmaceutical and Medical Technology sectors. He manages the Company's investment in Luceco plc. Alex read Human Biological and Social Sciences at the University of Oxford and obtained an MPhil in Management from the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge.

Rob Fulford – Managing Director London

Robert Fulford is a Managing Director (Equity) of EPE. He previously worked at Barclaycard Consumer Europe before joining EPE. Whilst at Barclaycard, Robert was the Senior Manager for Strategic Insight and was responsible for identifying, analysing and responding to competitive forces. Prior to Barclaycard, Robert spent four years as a strategy consultant at Oliver Wyman Financial Services, where he worked with a range of major retail banking and institutional clients in the UK, mainland Europe, Middle East and Africa. At EPE, Robert manages the investments in Whittard of Chelsea and David Phillips. Robert read Engineering at Cambridge University.

Ian Williams – Managing Director London

Ian previously worked at Lyceum Capital Partners before joining EPE. Whilst at Lyceum Capital Partners, he was responsible for deal origination and engagement, with a primary focus on the business services and software sectors, as well as financial services, education and health sectors. Prior to Lyceum, Ian was a Director at Arbuthnot Securities, involved in transactions including IPOs, secondary fund raisings and M&A, focusing on the support services, healthcare, transport & IT sectors. Ian started his career at Hambros Bank, where he spent 6 years in the M&A team. Ian read Politics and Economics at the University of Bristol.

James Henderson – Managing Director London

James worked in the Investment Banking division of Deutsche Bank before joining EPE. Whilst at Deutsche Bank he worked on a number of M&A transactions and IPOs in the energy, property, retail and gaming sectors, as well as providing corporate broking advice to mandated clients. He manages the investment in Pharmacy2U. James read Modern History at the University of Oxford and Medicine at the University of Nottingham.

Antoine Del Serra – Managing Director, Advisory & Placement London

Antoine Del Serra is a Managing Director of EPE’s Advisory & Placement business. Antoine has over 15 years Mergers & Acquisitions experience advising both corporates and private equity houses on acquisitions, disposals and capital raisings. During a career at Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein, Deutsche Bank, HSBC and Global Leisure Partners, Antoine built up extensive sector expertise of the Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) sector including Food & Beverages, Household & Personal Care, and Retail in both Western and Emerging markets. Antoine graduated from Institut d'Etudes Politiques de Paris (Science Po Paris) and holds an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (USA).

Philip Van Overberghe – Managing Director, Advisory & Placement London

Philip is a Managing Director in EPE's Advisory and Placement business.  Before joining EPE in 2019, Philip spent 6 years in capital raising and advisory roles,  covering pan-European institutional investors and consultants at Credit Suisse and as partner at an emerging hedge fund manager.  Prior to that, he gained over 10 years’ experience managing alternative and multi-asset portfolios at Cambridge Associates and Merrill Lynch. Philip began his career in Mergers & Acquisitions at Merrill Lynch, and also worked as a management consultant at Bain & Co. He holds a MBA from the Sloan School of Management at M.I.T., and a MSc. in Finance from the Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management. He speaks English, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Dutch.

Matt Hartnett – Managing Director, Credit Ireland

Matt Hartnett is Managing Director (Credit) of EPE. Matt is the portfolio manager of EPE’s credit business. Prior to EPE, Matt was a partner at Brigade Capital, a global investment manager with more than $18bn in AUM. Matt was Head of European Research and Trading and a member of Brigade’s Investment Committee. Matt was head of European trading at Anchorage Capital (2005-2013), a global investment manager with more than $20bn in AUM.  During his career at Anchorage he was both an analyst and trader covering European high yield and distressed situations. Earlier in his career Matt worked at GSC Partners and held roles in Leveraged & Acquisition Finance at Bank of Ireland and at Michel Dyens & Co, an advisory firm based in Paris. Matt read European Business at Dublin City University and holds an Advanced Diploma in Management (DESEM) from ESC Reims.

Craig Long – Managing Director, Administration Ireland

Craig is Director, Ireland at EPE Administration. Before joining EPE Administration Craig spent 10 years in the Channel Islands where he gained a wealth of experience in the offshore funds industry. In 2015 he established the Ipes Ireland office and this office grew to a team of over 25 staff before being acquired by Apex Fund Services in 2018. Craig has strong technical expertise in several aspects of fund administration including financial reporting, corporate governance and risk management and compliance. He began his career with Ernst & Young where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Craig has a Bachelor of Commerce, Accounting from Rhodes University.

Jason Le Roux – Managing Director, Administration Guernsey

Jason is Director, Guernsey at EPE Administration. He has over 30 years’ experience in Investment Management, Fund Administration and Custody. Before joining EPE Administration, Jason was Managing Director of Dominion Fund Management for 10 years. Prior to that Jason was Custody Manager and Client Relationship Manager at HSBC Custody Services (Guernsey) Limited and spent six years with Credit Suisse in both London and Guernsey. Jason is an Associate of The Chartered Institute of Securities & Investment and a member of the Institute of Directors.

Mark Harris – Director, Porfolio Manager London

Mark Harris Mark is the lead Fund Manager of Garraway’s range of multi-asset funds. Mark joined Garraway in 2019 from City Financial where he headed the multi-asset team, joining in October 2012 as part of its acquisition of Eden Asset Management. He joined Eden in 2011 to head its multi-asset business. In 2009, he joined Henderson following its acquisition of New Star Asset Management, leading a team of six managing over £2 billion in assets across a range of low to high-risk mandates. He had previously spent six years at New Star Asset Management managing a range of award-winning funds. Mark has a degree in Law and Economics from Newcastle University.

Darren Goodwin – Director, Porfolio Manager London

Darren Goodwin manages Garraway financial trends, a systematic trend following managed futures fund trading global financial markets. Darran launched his first launched his successful systematic trend following strategy in 2008 with a UCITS version following in 2012. Darran was Managing Director at Bear Sterns international and Vice President at investment bank Fox-Pitt Kelton. He started his career in investment banking in 1997 as a sales trader at Butterfield Securities

Frederick Coldham – Director, Porfolio Manager London

Frederick Coldham is a Fund Manager at Stratton Street Capital 2011-present. Prior to joining Stratton Mr.Coldham worked as Head of Fixed Income for Industrial Bank of Japan 1994-03

Malcolm Schembri – Director, Porfolio Manager London

Malcolm Schembri is the lead Fund Manager of Garraway Global Equity Fund and VT Garraway UK Equity Market Fund. With an investment career spanning over 10 years, he is an accomplished equity fund manager with a strong track record in both Global and UK fund mandates. Prior to joining Garraway, Malcolm was the lead fund manager of TM Global Equity Fund, a UK-focussed global equity mandate, and of TM Innovation Fund, a mid-to-small cap UK equity fund. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Management and Banking & Finance and a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Malta in 2005. He is a CFA Charterholder.

Image is Director, London at EPE Administration and manages the London office. He joined EPE Administration in 2007 and since then has worked on a broad range of finance and operations projects as well as being responsible for managing client engagements. Before joining EPE Administration, he was a Manager at TI Automotive where he gained a wealth of experience ranging from business process analysis and redesign, to managing suppliers and the internal client relationships of the Indian operations. He holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Nagpur University, India and in 2007 completed a Masters Degree in Operations Management.

Pankaj Jha – Director, India India

Pankaj is Director, India at EPE Administration and manages the Indian office. He is a Chartered Accountant with more than 12 years’ experience as both a corporate and private accountancy practitioner and extensive knowledge of both local and International Financial Reporting Standards and the Auditing Standard. Pankaj received his qualifications from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.

May is the Head of Compliance & Risk Management at EPEA Ireland. Prior to EPEA, May was Chief Risk Officer of European Depositary Bank, Head of Compliance at Havbell DAC and Seaconview DAC and interim Head of Compliance at Apex UK. Previously, Ms. Rea was Head of Compliance and Head of Risk at Ipes (Ireland) with responsibility for AML & CTF (2018-2019). May also had manager roles with Allied Irish and ACC Bank in Ireland and Jersey. May studied Business at the University of Limerick and is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Tim Hall – Director, Business Development London

Tim Hall Tim Hall is a co-manager of the firm’s UK Equity and Global equity products. Tim joined the group in 2013 from Oriel Asset Management LLP. Prior to this, he spent much of his career at Martin Currie, where his roles included managing UK equities, helping establish a global client service offering and overseeing teams dedicated to institutional sales. Latterly he ran the investment floor with its associated risk and trading teams. His investment career has spanned three decades.

Shalini Bansal – Vice President, Group Financial Controller India

Shalini is Group Financial Controller at EPE Administration. Before joining EPE Administration, she spent eight years as an external statutory auditor at Ernst & Young. Shalini read Business and Commerce at Delhi University and completed a post-graduation course at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Saurav Tandan – Vice President, Head of Client Reporting London

Saurav is a Client Reporting Manager at EPE Administration. Saurav manages a diverse portfolio of companies and specialises in fund accounting and taxation. Before joining EPE Administration in 2014, Saurav worked in public accounting practices for over 5 years advising a range of businesses in the areas of accounting and taxation. Saurav read computer science at the University of Hertfordshire and obtained a BSc in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He is also a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Rebecca Curran – Vice President, Talent London

Rebecca is VP Talent at EPE. She has a background in talent management consulting and inhouse HR. She was most recently at global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills as HR Project Manager, having worked previously in the Leadership Consulting practice of Heidrick & Struggles and at CEB SHL where she worked on shaping and delivering talent acquisition, talent mobility and organisational development solutions for clients. Her early career was spent in Executive Search at Heidrick & Struggles focusing on inhouse Legal, Risk and Compliance roles. Rebecca read English Literature at the University of York.

Dan is a Vice President at EPE. Prior to joining EPE, he worked in the Corporate Finance department of Peel Hunt. Dan has a Masters in Mathematics from Cambridge University.

Peter Norris – Advisory Board London

Peter Norris is currently the Chairman of Virgin Group. In 2007, Peter became the CEO of Quayle Munro plc on its acquisition of New Boathouse Capital, an advisory firm which he founded in 2000. Peter has over 30 years’ corporate finance and international capital markets experience, having begun his career at Barings in 1976, where his roles included head of corporate finance in South East Asia. In 1994 he became CEO of Barings Investment Banking Group. Peter read Modern History and Modern Languages at Oxford University.

Hedley Goldberg – Advisory Board London

Hedley Goldberg is a Managing Director at Rothschild. He led the Rothschild team advising on the £925m sale of the Priory Group to Advent, advised Bridgepoint Capital on its £424m bid for Care UK, and advised Envoy Services on its sale to WorldPay. Hedley joined Rothschild in 2001 from Baring Brothers where he worked for three years in their M&A team. Hedley read Classics at Bristol University.

Sir John Redwood – Advisory Board London

Sir John Redwood MP has been chairman of both Norcros plc, an industrial conglomerate and Concentric plc, a niche global engineering business. He has also been an executive director of NM Rothschild and Sons. John is currently the Chairman of the Investment Committee at Evercore Pan Asset and an adviser to Haldex Hydraulics Division, the current owners of Concentric. John is currently a Member of Parliament for Wokingham. He has held fellowships at All Souls College, Oxford and is an Associate Professor of Middlesex University Business School.

Helen Jones – Advisory Board London

Helen Jones is a Non-Executive Director of international fast-dining restaurant group Vapiano SE, motor accessories and cycling retailer Halfords Group plc, where she chairs the CSR Committee, UK pub and hotel group Fuller, Smith & Turner plc, UK food manufacturer Premier Foods and British premium tea, coffee and hot chocolate brand Whittard of Chelsea. Helen has previously held senior roles at a number of consumer and hospitality groups, having been Group Executive Director at Caffé Nero, Managing Director of Zizzi, the Italian casual dining chain as well as Vice-chairman of the Ben & Jerry’s Board.

Stuart McKee – Advisory Board London

Stuart McKee was the Global and UK Head of Corporate Finance within PwC for the last 10 years and has over 35 years’ Corporate Finance experience, having previously worked in industry with Coats Viyella, the multi-national textile business. He is an M&A specialist, with a Retail and Consumer sector focus and extensive experience across acquisitions, disposals, fund raising and private equity deals. His clients include public and private companies as well as numerous private equity funds.

David Herbert – Advisory Board London

David is a former Chairman of Exillon Energy plc and non-executive director of GNG Retail Public Limited and MT Petrol Group. Prior to this, David spent 20 years as Managing Director and Head of Emerging Europe Corporate Finance at Baring Brothers/ING Barings. Before Barings, David was a senior executive at BP for 11 years. David read Economics at Trinity College Dublin and holds a doctorate from Brunel University, where he taught for eight years.

Richard Spiegelberg – Advisory Board London

Richard Spiegelberg is a Director of Cardew Group and Public Relations Adviser to EPIC Private Equity LLP. He previously spent 11 years at Merrill Lynch as Director, Marketing & Communications for Europe, Middle East, and Africa and Director of Corporate Communications for the International Private Banking Group. He previously held senior posts at J Walter Thompson, Coopers & Lybrand and Streets Financial Strategy, where he was Joint Managing Director. Richard began his career as a journalist on The Times where he was Business News Features Editor and Management Editor. He is a director of the City of London Sinfonia and a graduate of New College, Oxford University.

Clive Spears – ESO Board London

Clive Spears retired from the Royal Bank of Scotland International Limited in December 2003 as Deputy Director of Jersey after 32 years of service. His main activities prior to retirement included Product Development, Corporate Finance, Trust and Offshore Company Services and he was Head of Joint Venture Fund Administration with Rawlinson & Hunter. Mr Spears is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and a Member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. He has accumulated a well spread portfolio of directorships centring on private equity, infrastructure and corporate debt. His appointments currently include being Chairman of Nordic Capital Limited and Head of the Investment Committee for GCP Infrastructure Investments (FTSE 250 listed company).

Heather Bestwick – ESO Board London

Heather Bestwick has been a financial services professional for 25 years, onshore in the City of London and offshore in the Cayman Islands and Jersey. She qualified as an English solicitor, specialising in ship finance, with City firm Norton Rose, and worked in their London and Greek offices for 8 years. Ms Bestwick subsequently practised and became a partner with global offshore law firm Walkers in the Cayman Islands, and Managing Partner of the Jersey office. She joined Jersey Finance in 2010 as Technical Director and Deputy Chief Executive. Becoming a non-executive director in 2014, she is Chairman of Equiom (Jersey) Limited and Equiom (Guernsey) Limited, sits on the boards of the manager of the Deutsche Bank dbX hedge fund platform, a shipping fund, and the States of Jersey incorporated company holding Jersey’s affordable housing.

David Pirouet – ESO Board London

David Pirouet joined PricewaterhouseCoopers Channel Islands LLP in 1980, retiring in 2009 after being an Audit and Assurance Partner for over 20 years. During his 29 years at the firm Mr Pirouet specialised in the financial services sector, in particular in the alternative investment management area and also led the business’s Hedge Fund and business recovery practices for over four years. Mr Pirouet currently holds a number of non-executive positions across private equity, infrastructure and corporate debt. Mr Pirouet was previously non-executive Director and Chair of the Audit and Risk committee for GCP Infrastructure Investments (FTSE 250 listed company) until he retired in February 2021.

Nicholas Wilson – ESO Board London

Nicholas Wilson has over 40 years of experience in hedge funds, derivatives and global asset management. He has run offshore branch operations for Mees Pierson Derivatives Limited, ADM Investor Services International Limited and several other London based financial services companies. He is Chairman of Qatar Investment Fund Plc, a premium listed company, and, until recently, was chairman of Alternative Investment Strategies Limited. He sits on the board of another public company, where he chairs the audit committee. He is a resident of the Isle of Man.

Robert Quayle – ESO Board London

Robert Quayle qualified as an English solicitor at Linklaters & Paines in 1974 after reading law at Selwyn College, Cambridge. He subsequently practiced in London and the Isle of Man as a partner in Travers Smith Braithwaite. He served as Clerk of Tynwald (the Isle of Man’s parliament) for periods totalling 12 years and holds a number of public and private appointments, and is active in the voluntary sector. Mr. Quayle is Chairman of the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company Limited, W.H. Ireland (IOM) Limited and a number of other companies in the financial services, manufacturing and distribution sectors.
